Would we not be subsidizing healthcare costs at a much higher percentage if we had complete government funded healthcare?
I don't know my gimmick

I dunno, because this is still framing the question incorrectly imo. Until we stop forcing hospitals to take on dying clients that can't pay, pretending we don't subsidize health care is a quaint fantasy.

I dont think anyone is pretending we dont already subsidize healthcare for extenuating circumstances. Im a dialysis patient for instance, without dialysis I would die, so not so surprising the government subsidizes by dialysis treatments. But if the government were to subsidize health care costs for every single citizen for any reason whatsoever, that just seems as much a quaint fantasy as pretending we dont subsidize at all.
