I'm not really sure why people are so bent on insisting this one's a port. It's an engine rewrite with improved graphics and a few new characters, stages, and items. That's all Smash sequels have ever been. The fact that there aren't many brand new characters doesn't mean they aren't putting any work into it when they've got so many existing characters to update and balance for the new engine.

before the conference, i was convinced it would be a port as well. i'm still not sure how they managed to make a brand new game in the amount of time they did, plus they typically like to have more time between games, ok?

either way, i'm definitely convinced it's not a port, and i'm excited as hell to play it, ok?
