The thing is, the Galaxy isn't the only Android phone or even the only Samsung phone on the market. And the iphone X and the iPhone 8 aren't the only Apple phones on the market, the iPhone SE is still a valid phone and is considerably cheaper There still may be other cheap android options out there, but no on is looking at someone who just bought an iPhone SE and saying they bought that phone as a status symbol.
