Couldn't even imagine it. I just installed a new garbage disposal under my sink and realized that the amount I was cussing, would get me in some deep shit if I was actually doing this for a plumbing company and cussing like that in some old ladies house.

That's not retail...

f*** that. I work for a grocery store chain and I would absolutely never want to be a store manager (or any kind of manager, really) here.

Maybe its different for other companies, but here being a manager just seems... awful and completely not worth it.

I currently work night shift at a gas station. It's easy as fuck, pays well enough to cover my bills and have spending cash for luxuries, and the owner has made it clear that the manager of his second station is on thin ice and if she screws up I'm getting her position. Which would be both a significant boost to my income and fewer hours (right now I work 6 nights/54 hours a week).

I would love to get that manager position, and possibly maneuver myself into a position to get the entire business when the boss retires since he's been running the place for like 30 years and is getting up there in age. The dude is loaded and while he does work his ass off, most of it is because he has no idea how to hire people so he's constantly coming in to fix someone else's fuck-up. And I mean it's really bad how he hires people. The last 3 employees we got were hired simply because we had a "Help Wanted" sign on the door for a month, he was too lazy to actually call any applicants and interview them, and eventually someone who already works here said "Hey, my cousin needs a job." I shit you not, one of them is the niece of a current employee, and this was the entire conversation:

Boss: We really need to get someone new in here. It's getting to be a pain to find people to cover shifts.
Ben: My niece is looking for a job.
Boss: How old is she?
Ben: Mid-40's.
Boss: Yeah? Can she start on monday?

-_- If I ran the place, at least half the staff would already be gone.
