I'm pretty suspicious of the Agent's story, hopefully there is more evidence that comes forward.
I don't really understand border patrol in Texas. The one checkpoint I've frequently encountered is actually a god 30-40 miles inside of Texas you HAVE to go through it even when you don't leave the U.S.
I thought it was bullshit that just because I was in South Padre (Texas), I still had to go through border patrol to get back up to Austin.
That's 99% of border patrol stations. They also have a notoriously bad rating at getting their job done, mainly serving to harass legal citizens with illegal search and seizures. If there is any job in the US that needs wiped out completely it's border patrol. We would have a better setup if there were just immigration stations at the border with customs that could check for drugs and the whole nine without any of this other useless bullshit. Being a border patrol agent is the sociopathic cop's wet dream and we don't need that shit in this country, it's bad enough as it is.

I've had my vehicle searched many times at those stops. It makes me feel like I'm not a U.S. citizen. They also ask really stupid questions like, "Why are you driving a truck?" "What is the luggage for?"
They have no right to search your vehicle without a warrant. Don't let them.
Sure they don't have the right, but they'll always find a way and will make your day hell if you don't let them. Unless you're rich and can hire an attorney for petty things like that, no sense in fighting it. ---
