Basically...if they'd actually made the movie so that it didn't require watching any previous MCU movies...then they'd probably not have made the movie because it's whole POINT was to end the common thread story that had tied the previous movies together.

People who went in wanting a standalone movie at this point are clueless and probably just a little bit dense...I'm GLAD they ignored the needs of these people.

You don't get it. A lot of people don't get it. It's not that the movies necessarily shouldn't be interconnected. It's that, aside from being interconnected, that each movie should also be able to stand alone on its own merits as well. Someone who's watched the entire MCU series may get even more out of it than someone who's never seen any previous MCU movies, but each movie should still be able to stand on its own, and be a fullfilling experience to everyone. There's no reason a movie series cannot both be a good movie by itself, and part of a series of movies. Those are not mutually exclusive options.

A movie that cannot stand on its own as a good movie isn't a good movie.
