Literally buy chicken breast, run it under water to clean it, put it in the oven for 20mins at 400F, put salt/whatever spices you want on it, and you're done

Buy steak, put salt on it, put it on a fry pan with a little bit of olive oil, cook it for 4.5mins on one side, flip once, cook for 4.5mins, you're done

Buy microwavable packeted vegetables if you're lazy

There, you can now cook two basic meals that you can live off.

Ok. I dont have to do anything to the chicken while in oven right? Just leave it. And how much salt.

What do you use to flip steak? A spoon? And flip to the other side?

I dont eat vegetables so I have to skip the packaged vegetable part since I wouldnt touch those.

So thanks, those are two meals I use from time to time.

But im scared Ill burn the house down. Or if it gets burnt and I have to open a chef Boyardee can since I would starve

Just leave the chicken. Don't open the oven, don't flip it etc. Preheat the oven for like 10-15mins first too. You can use as much salt as you like - depends how salty you like things.

You flip it with a spatula when you're using a fry pan.

Protip: Do not keep flipping the steak back and forth. You only need to flip it once. You will be nervous that it's going to burn if you leave it on one side for 4 and a half minutes. It won't (unless you have the heat set to the highest setting). Each stove is different but I just turn the knob to 3/4 full heat and that works for me. I have an electric oven too so it may be different if you have a gas oven.

Look, when I moved out and started cooking, I burnt the shit out of everything, or undercooked it and had to throw it away. But I learned over time. You can only learn by doing. You won't burn the house down.

Ahh. How do you pre-heat something.

You turn it on and wait for it to heat up

Most ovens have a light that turns on (or off) once it's at the desired heat

Turn oven on
Turn heat to 400F
Wait 10-15mins
Put chicken in and wait 20mins

Ahh thanks!

I might try the chicken this week and steak next week!!!
