The problem with this is that the definition of "sex offender" is extremely broad. There are so, so many things that can make you a sex offender. Predators who assault kids are sex offenders, but they are far from being the only ones.

I mean, just consider this example:

When Janet Allison's 15-year-old daughter got pregnant in 2002, she allowed her 17-year-old boyfriend to move into her Georgia home. This got her convicted for being a party to child molestation.

She remains a registered sex offendereven though her daughter later married the boyfriend.


So that mom should go to prison if she ever goes in a public park?

It's ridiculous.
