Also, you have no idea how licensing works.

lol dog you can be as snarky as you want but all i'm saying is, they've very obviously shot themselves in the foot by selling the rights to their own characters to the point where they have to buy them back and can't even use them in their own films.

You're trying to tell me there's no legal framework whatsoever where they could have given fox the licence to use the characters and still retain the rights to use them themselves at some point in the future without jumping through hoops?

it was an oversight, simple as

u dont need to whiteknight for marvel zang they dont give a shit

They pretty much did shoot themselves in the foot. They gave away movie rights because (I assume) they had no plans to make movies themselves at the time. And because of that, they neglected to include the necessary legal framework that would allow them to get those rights back.

The main character was Thanos.

Agreed. This movie seemed to be more about revealing Thanos's motivations and character than anything else. Everything else seemed to be more like background activity to that.

Marvel was going through bankruptcy when they licensed out the rights. They would get some money back from each movie but obviously not like if they would make their own movies. At the time they could barely stay afloat, and as you said they had no plans (or even the means) to make movies.
