Puritan religious ideals are deeply ingrained into most facets of the culture here, and sex is bad.
People also don't have a firm grasp on what legalized prostitution looks like, even though one state (Rhode Island) actually did legalize it (on accident) and it had a very positive effect on sexual health and sex-related crime rates there so... Oh well, people don't care about statistics they care about what's "moral".
Which is an utter embarrassment to humanity.
Which is? Rhode Island or the Puritan religious ideals?
The latter. Sorry, didn't realize I had worded it ambiguously (and I'm on my phone so I can't highlight and selectively quote) >_<
