Each unit had special strengths and weaknesses, plus (on PC) you could change your arsenal to have more fun. Having almost 30 characters just brings too much overlap to be TF2-tier fun. That said, Torbjorn is supposed to get a rework sometime in the future (after Symmetra), so they'll probably rip off some of Engy's useful ideas.
