Even allrecipes.com would turn up better recipes than what you're describing. Better yet, look into the common spice combinations and usages on your preferred ethnicity's cuisine, learn what those individual spices and flavours accomplish for the dish, and apply your knowledge to improve the bland recipes you're encountering.
