I can't imagine this is a tenable financial situation for them.

It has the potential to be. For every person who sees ten movies a month and buys no concessions and clearly comes out on top, there are going to be a whole lot more who don't see enough movies to justify the cost, or buy enough concessions each time to more than make up the difference. That's how a lot of these subscription-based things work.

But if you pay $7 a month and see 7 movies, you only paid $7 for what $65-75 in movie tickets. Multiply that buy 12 months and it isn't possible for the movie pass to be financially feasible. The movie passes aren't sold by the movie theater. AMC has expressed concern regarding that movie passes.

It only works if people buy it, since you have to pay for 12 months at a time, and not use it, like a gym membership.
