This pope is a literal heretic and it seems he wants to be loved by everyone more than anything but this seems to be the trend of religion in the West. If he were a true believer in the faith he would push on despite how unpopular it was even though Catholicism has little place in this modernized interconnected techno world and can only exist as the shell it currently is. Why shouldn't religions evolve like anything else? It's in their best interests if they want to survive the modern world indefinitely. They can't save souls if they die off. Maybe an obscure religion that died was the true one and now everyone ever born is already damned because they refused to adapt to trends and no one is alive to show society the way.
