This is like an NBA team finding a guy who played D3 sporadically 7 years ago to fill a bench for injuries. A team is allowed to carry two goaltenders on their starting roster on game night. In the insanely rare instance that both go down, they have to have an emergency backup, usually on the coaching team, that can fill in and play.
