If it doesnt then I retreat to my bedroom where close quarters can help even out the odds if the intruder does have a gun. I declare that I have a weapon will use it if he/she tries to get into where I am. At this point if they approach the bedroom I can assume they intend to kill, I grab any heavy/dangerous object I can and attack with full force as the turn the corner. I have a sword in my room that is just for decoration but it should be sharp enough to do some damage. Any bat/walking stick/ shovel would also work. If I won the lottery or had some other reason to think I might be targeted I would buy a gun but right now I have no real use for one except a very rare chance a random phyco decides that my house looks like a fun murder location. --- I won't have it!
