Video game music contest (VGMC) is an annual contest run on Board 8 where the users select their favorite pieces of video game music to be entered into a tournament bracket. We then vote to decide which song advances. This is year 12. In order to ensure the same songs don't win every year, the top finishers each year are permanently retired from competition. As of this moment, nominations for entries are now open. . HOW TO NOMINATE Eligibility requirements for songs: * They must be from a video game. * They must be originally from a video game. (No Rock Band tracks.) * They must be from the game itself. No remixes, arrangements, or bonus tracks from OSTs. If multiple versions of a song exist, make sure the version you are nominating is from the game. * They must not be retired. Please see here for a list of retired tracks: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Er_iw4jHiCCF4ntFD8LSS6OcNMsFKw84hBhpTTEtkMM * You may nominate up to 20 total songs. * You may nominate at most 2 songs from a single game. * You may nominate at most 5 songs from a single series. * You may not nominate multiple versions of the same song. * You may double-vote for any 5 of your songs. Please use the formatting listed in the previous post. YouTube links are strongly preferred. If you're reading this on Thursday, March 1st, please also keep yourself in check a little and give everyone a chance to post the nominations they are most excited about. . OKAY, I NOMINATED. NOW WHAT? Check the spreadsheet to see how your songs are doing. The top 128 vote-getters will be entered into the bracket. Please note that it is a time-honored tradition to drop support from songs that clearly won't get in order to push other songs that could. It's also good form to listen to as many of the nominations from others as you can, in case you find anything you like and would like to help find its way into the bracket. Of course, you don't have to use all your nominations right away. Nominations are going to be open for 12 days. And feel free to discuss your choices in the thread, with the following caveat: Do not rally, trade nominations, or beg for people to listen to your nominations. And above all else, don't be a jerk.
