I suspected including the cop-out answer for this poll would be a mistake. No one wants to make the hard choices.

Well, if they're not registered with either party, it's not a cop-out. And keep in mind that not everybody here is even American so they wouldn't be eligible (well, unless their country has a party by that name)

If you live in another country, you vote for the option that's the equivalent for your country. And you can still identify with democratic or republican ideals without being officially registered with either party.

Those are cop-outs. Overlooking that the American Republican and Democratic parties don't necessarily translate into foreign equivalents, party affiliation is absolutely cut and dry-- You're either a member or you're not. If you're not registered, you're not a member. This isn't a question of conservative vs liberal ideals (and neither party is exactly conservative or liberal except in contrast to each other), it's a question of party membership.

The topic title says "do you identify as" not "are you", so this topic is strictly about where your opinions lineup rather than whose card you physically carry.

You're talking to the dude who short-circuits if you say nazi when you really mean neo-nazi, I don't think he can grasp these nuances
