Homosexuality is natures way to prevent overpopulation.

Evolution doesn't really care about overpopulation. The more plausible explanation I've heard for homosexuality is that, in a society (most of whom will be related to some extent or another, so kin selection will be at work), it's highly beneficial to have a small number of individuals without children to help raise other children. You see the same thing more broadly with other altruistic traits in other species: altruistic individuals are themselves less fit than selfish ones, evolutionary speaking, but overall populations tend to be fittest with somewhere in the range of 10-20% of their individuals being altruistic.

Basically, from an evolutionary standpoint, gay people exist so your gay uncle is free to babysit you because he doesn't have his own kids.
