If you don't remember this shit, basically you're dropped into a massive 'active mission zone' in Afghanistan relatively early on into the game. The game gives you a timer of something like 13 minutes, and you're not allowed to end the mission before you pass this time either naturally, or, if you're clever, with the Phantom Cigar. So within this massive space shit like tanks and trucks periodically get marked on your map and transfer from one part of the map into the out of bounds zones. So basically you're forced to gallop endlessly across the map hunting down these trucks and blowing them the fuck away with rockets and such. Of course, it's so early in the game that it's possible you haven't even been able to develop a rocket launcher yet, and even if you have, it'll take 4 or 5 rockets to destroy say a tank. Similarly, it's likely that you just received Diamond Dog at this point and want to try him out, and if so you may as well cancel the mission and re-select D-Horse if you don't want to slog it.

So far it's meh-annoying, especially because stealth is more or less absent aside from ducking around outposts. But it gets infinitely worse because 1) There are NO CHECKPOINTS in this mission, at all. So if you want to either go for a high rank or hit special objectives by getting through the whole 13 minutes and capping all the targets, then you need to go through all the time without Cigar-ing or anything (and Cigar-ing miniscule segments is impossible due to the Cigar's impreciseness). But this awful point is magnified because 2) the map segment's geography is extremely unforgiving, and for whatever reason it's extremely easy to die from fall damage from many of the jumps you might try on DHorse. So you need to gallop around this desert blowing up tanks or babying prisoners in jeeps for 13 minutes with the huge chance of just fucking dying because the game didn't like you taking that leap on DHorse. And as I mentioned earlier, there's like 9 secondary objectives for this mission spanning the entire map, including prisoners literally laying around in the middle of nowhere off to the side.

Worst of all, though, is that this of all missions resurfaces as "Backup, Back Down: Extreme" as a challenge mission in chapter 2, as though it wasn't obnoxious enough.
