I went over to my sister in laws today for a birthday party and she told everyone to take their shoes off. I scoffed at the notion and told her it's rude to request that of guests. What if someone has foot odor, what if someone has nasty feet or holey socks they're ashamed of? What if someone doesn't want to walk around in everyone's foot sweat and other nasty floor stuff? Not only that but in this case the whole house is hardwood. Not that I think it matters if it's carpet or hard floor, it's rude either way, but in this case it literally made no sense.

Put some slippers in you bag/car then.... wont be running around here tracking dirt around my house

If you are ashamed of holey socks...
