Kinda curious what would happen if this were somehow shown to be possible.

Like humanity was shown that all disease could be eliminated with certainty. And equally shown that the only way to achieve it was for every human adult in a first-world country who was alive exactly 1 year from today would have had to pay $1000 by that date. So we'd all have a single year to get every living adult $1000 and get them to the payment location.

Would everyone start giving their money to the poor people to get them to pay it? Or would people start forming gangs and go out to kill anybody who hadn't paid yet? Or would the world just go "welp, that sucks. I guess we're just gonna have to deal with diseases like we always have"?

Hollywood got its new idea.

Seems kinda contrived. Like, what sort of circumstance would make it so every person must individually pay $1000 toward this?

Seems more like the world governments would accrue the funds for it, not each and every person over 18.

Well, countless movies are needlessly contrived >_>
