Problem is, most stores (I assume) are understaffed as it is (to save money, I guess) so theres a lot of pressure to not call out sick.

This, tbh. Plus retail employees frequently call out sick, especially on fictitious grounds.

On a completely different note, I wonder why it isn't the norm to wear a mouth cover if you are sick and have to be out in the public. As ridiculous as it may look, you are doing it for the good of others. Of course such cover isn't exactly necessary if folks actually covered their mouths when they cough/sneeze and not cough/sneeze into their hands but not everyone is that courteous.

In the case of retail, they wouldn't effectively be able to do their job. For the rest of the population, it's a cultural thing.

In a lot of asian countries it is. Even non-sick people wear them sometimes when out in crowded public places just in case.

I thought they also did that to avoid getting sick?
