Do what every other responsible pet owning parent manages to and close the door to the baby's room. Only let the cat there with supervision. I'm not saying let the cat have a baby sleeping free for all but if you shut the door you keep the cat away and keep the cat from waking her.

Sounds like your cat will have a better life elsewhere anyway so that's good

shut the fuck up, you have no clue what it's like to be a parent, only a cat owner, ok?

the cat was in the same room as us. we left the baby for no more than 2 minutes as we started to prep for cooking when we looked over at her and saw the asshole cat, in her swing with her, getting ready to lay down on top of her, ok?

there's no way we'd ever leave the cat in the same room as her unsupervised. that's the dumbest thing i've ever heard, and the fact that you feel like you have to tell me something so obvious is ridiculous, ok?

please feel free to disengage from this thread, as you are providing no help or support, and are not wanted, ok?

Ziggi, in all seriousness, you need to do what works for you and your family.
If giving the cat to your mom works for you, then go for it.

I'm not sure how your wife feels and whether she has a strong attachment to the cat.
if she does, you may either want to close the door to the baby's room so the cat won't disturb the baby (and pay a little bit of attention to the cat while the baby is sleeping), or let the baby and cat get used to each other. Sit with the baby while one of you pets the cat, maybe.
Either way, the cat and baby will be fine.

Having a baby is a huge adjustment, and the cat will most likely get used to the baby if it feels it won't be replaced by the baby if you should decide not to give the cat to your mom.

Good luck, and get some rest, ok? ;-)

thanks, susan. my mom was more than happy to take the cat, especially after we told her what he tried to do. she likes the cat, and we got her some supplies this weekend. it all worked out in the end, ok?
