I only briefly read the topic and posted. What was it (almost) 500 posts of? Non-retail customers being dicks and defending it?

It came down to how long before closing it was acceptable to go in. The general consensus was:
-generally if you're in an out before closing, and don't mess up the store, that's fine
-food service has it the worst when people come in late
-it's a federal crime to not pay employees for closing, and any employee claiming they get in trouble can and should report it
-ideally a store would close 30 minutes before the end of workers shifts
-slightly contested: if you're allowed to come in as close to closing as you want, the store is allowed to kick you out at closing. Fair is fair.

It was mostly just one guy having a meltdown over the idea that even 10 minutes before closing is too soon, and others debating how long before closing is "closed"

Ah I getcha. All good points. Not sure how effect #3 would be, though, sadly.

How is it possible to be a non-retail customer in 2018? Unless you meant to say non-retail employee.

I meant to say non-retail working customer. Shoppers who've never worked retail. Sorry.
