We also can't attack a home invader except if they attack us first, which is why using a gun on one would be a bad idea. A baseball bat is much quieter and doesn't lead to the neighbours calling the cops Dude, their leader WELCOMES ISIS fighters into the country and says they deserve a voice, Canada is shit and their healthcare is sending them in economic turn spin.
