In my 11 years of doing it the heaviest single items were 50 pound bags of onions and potatoes.

Yep, those were the worst. Along with big bulky boxes of cabbage. Those goddamn cabbage boxes NEVER hold. It's ridiculous.

Something that a lot of you may not be considering as well is that you're also working in a cooler for a good percentage of the time. Many of the produce products are caked in ice by the people that package them as well, which can lead to some very numb fingers. If you're throwing a truck, it can get very tiring no matter how long you've been doing it for, especially since you have to rotate produce. So if you got 3 bags of onions in and have 3 bags already back there, depending on the circumstances you might have to actually move all 6 bags in many cases. Multiply that by every product and you can see why it's not so easy and in the 6 years I was there, we were simply unable to ever keep a dedicated truck guy for a long period of time.
