I dunno about Shadow of War because that game seems like kind of a mess (also EA), but Dark souls 3 didn't launch at $85. The content they sold you later wasn't 100% done and readily available on launch day, it was stuff they worked on after release. The Fighterz characters are available on release day, it's just locked content.
