Maiming attempts at dogs are simply failures on the dog's part to kill a target. The only exceptions to this are dogs that are trained specifically to maim such as various police dogs.

You're answering the question by restating the question.

"I'm better at speaking because I'm good at speaking"

Why are they so good at killing, was the question.

Also you're comparing natural instinct to domesticated instinct in your "maiming is a failure to kill" claim. Domesticated animals are less likely to kill than a wild animal would be

wild animals with no ability to kill you are less likely to kill you than domesticated animals.

I don't walk outside in fear of a wild squirrel attack because squirrels have no ability to kill me. the reason why people are afraid of, for example, a bear attack, is because a bear is extremely likely to kill you if it attacks you because it's a bear and a bear is really fucking good at killing things.

And pit bulls are more likely to kill you than any other dog, even if they're domesticated, because they're just better at it.

Keep in mind that being bigger and stronger doesn't necessarily translate to killing ability. a random hog weighs many times as much as a pit bull and is occasionally even larger in size as well but is typically harmless (tusked boars, OTOH, are fucking vicious and one of the more dangerous animals on land)
