Rey knew (or felt) who her parents were and Kylo was tapping into her mind to bring out those repressed memories/feelings/hunches/whatever they were. In other words, Kylo only has access to what's in her mind, and he acted as a sort of "therapist" who brings out your darkest repressed thoughts and feelings, albeit in a very direct and Sithy way of course.
