There is still a lot of progress to be made there, but it is getting better. I think this whole topic is proof of that personally. Okay, according to my wife (who went to colleges in Columbus GA, right near the Alabama border), the communities there are a lot more insular and enclosed. Society there is very much revolvant around Sunday church and the group you see each Sunday.
