sure as hell not american lol

in terms of consolidation of power it could be argued to be.

In terms of contribution to the human race, not even close.

So? The American military would crush the rest. America is an empire of true power.

The US has the strongest military but we don't have direct control of that much territory compared to other empires. We have a lot of allies, but they don't always do what we want them to do (like how Turkey is bombing the Kurds in Syria)

Control of territory probably isn't the best proxy for power today, as it might have been in the past though.

The establishment of the liberal international order, which Trump so despises, is the foundation of American power, and allows us to exert control far and beyond what our already vast resources would suggest. That's why even in Europe, a region richer and more populous than we are, the US is the dominant military power. The same goes for other highly sophisticated and wealthy parts of the world whether Japan, Canada or Australia.

If the US can manage to keep the institutions it created together for another few centuries perhaps it can truly be a nation that rivaled the great empires of the past, in terms of systemic domination, but it's gotta be hard to see that right about now. The system already looks shaky and it's only been 70 years.
