I did get constantly battered by the whip, but eh, that's what Curaga is for
Like 90% of my deaths were getting caught in the whip because you dont have time to heal yourself in it. You need to circle recover and then heal and it just can't happen that way for me. Donald or Goofy can save you but if they didn't, whip was instadeath for me.

I made much use of that video but I really just fell apart anytime he had the lasers/glider together. Also I think the I-Frames after his desperation are really insanely tight.
To require a video like that though, this fight is really poorly designed. You'd really have no way of knowing when to expect the whip, and it is NEVER clear from the game itself when it is ok to hit him, because I swear he finishes some moves and he stays invulnerable.
Here's my final winning attempt. Took me probably at least 50 tries. Excuse the pausing at the beginning, think it gets going around 1:45.
Thanks for linking this man. Seriously. All the videos of are either gods beating the hell out of him, or new people to the game and or battle he never had a prayer. Or things telling you how to beat him. To see something like this, a seasoned good player that ends up winning, but seeing the struggle, getting hit by attacks, scrambling, having to dodge at one health while cursed... that's awesome and gives people a much better idea of this fight than probably everything else. When you have everything memorized and know what to do, it's just not easy to do it, that's when it's great to watch.
yeah it was a pretty gritty run, and I made a lot of mistakes throughout I didn't make on other runs... had an awful time dealing with the lasers/glider combo. Stuff like, right after his first desperation move and he goes back to regular attacks- he used the bow/arrow on me and I was able to avoid it but when I hit him I didn't land first so my combo sucked, else I would've killed him then. I was just lucky he didn't curse me during the desperation portion of that fight because that was the main killer for me once I got to that point. Feel like when you get hit by Attack or Magic curse and he goes desperation you're basically fucked.
Agree completely. Most of my deaths were all Curse or Heartlock.
