I must have completely missed the him being a demigod part (that or it wasn't explained well) but that absolutely makes a difference and is something the movie should have made more of a point to tell you. It wasn't explained anywhere except a throwaway line in the movie in a language that wasn't subtitled, then the character's actor came out and confirmed that The Chief was in fact a demigod. ...
