The Simpson's decline in quality started around the same time as Futurama's creation.

The Simpsons' decline in quality happened because the show was ten years old at that point. The creators and VAs were still there, but you had different people behind the scenes writing and producing and mismanaging and shit. Basically every show has a shelf life and barely none are still good after ten seasons; the only exception might be South Park, but it's a much easier show to produce and most of the creative work is still done by the same two guys.


Yeah and I'm pretty sure Groening had little day-to-day involvement with the production of the show since long before he was working on Futurama
