1 out of 3. One of them even took less money (but longer deal) and other was AI so god knows what they offered. Bleh, well they were going to be back-ups/future starters after retirements so not a huge deal, might be why they opted against signing for me.

The 7 year deal thing is kinda borderline really. Offering an old guy 7 years should be viewed in the same light as offering someone a monster 1 year deal (something we are not allowed to do) imo. That being said, that contract is astronomical and he's going to be paying 10-11m a year for a 37-38 year old who may have dropped to low 90s or worse at that point when other teams are paying like 5m for guys in the lower 90s. So he's going to pay for it eventually which is why I'm ok with it.

Would be hard to implement a rule for it as you'd have to do ages based on positions since they retire at different times. Like maybe you can't sign anyone to a contract that puts them beyond 38 on expiry? And lower for skill positions that retire sooner? 35 or so? Once they hit that age you can only offer 1-2 year deals or something?

But that's hypocritical of me anyway when I have 36-37 year olds on my roster with 4 year deals (granted I wasn't competing against anyone for their contracts)
