it had some good ideas, but overall it was pretty shit from what I played.

That doesn't surprise me. The game doesn't start off well at all and front loads one of the dumbest, most out of place worst bosses in the game as one of the first 5 bosses. >_>

In fact just going with story bosses, not counting the tutorial, it basically goes:

- Unreasonably damage spongey but altogether really repetitive boss
- Extremely dangerous boss who will royally fuck almost everyone for awhile and be a brickwall unless they get a handle on status ailments
- A yokai boss punishes you for fighting him the way it makes sense to fight yokai then in the same mission a human boss who's okay
- One of the most out of place, weird bosses in the game that is just not like anything else you'll ever fight again
- One of the most out of place, dumb bullshit bosses in the game filled with instant kill BS, fall deaths and will be a massive tedious slog to kill if you don't look up a way to trivialise it

And then after that it finds its identity and is mostly fine.
