71. .hack//G.U. Vol 2//Reminisce The Whereabouts of Truth
Nominated by: xp1337
Have I heard it before? I want to say yes

Not for me is about the best way I can summarize this one. The main vocals are clean and well-executed. The backing knows its place and supports the singer. And often I like these soft, somber, vocal-driven pieces, but this one doesnt catch me. Im not necessarily in love with the chanting parts, and there were moments where the drum fills were too strong, but overall we just chalk this one up to me not latching onto it.

70. Persona 4: Dancing All Night Calystagia

Happy little piece. Of course I have no idea what its about, but the people in the video seem excited enough, and why wouldnt they be when theyre dancing all night? Ultimately, though, Calystagias problem is the same one that all Persona tracks suffer theyre from Persona.

Okay, joking aside, because I dont actively hate Persona the way I do, say, Banjo-Kazooie, Persona music is just there. Its perpetually 6/10. Calystagia maybe edges ahead of most of the other Persona tracks Ive heard because it is fairly likeable, but I prefer VGM to BGM.

69. Ys I & II Chronicles Victory

Not a fan of the sound of Victory. A quick, poppy tempo is often enough to sell a song at least a decent way up a list like this, and it did for me at first, but then I listened again and realized the instruments are kinda dirty and the vocalist is really straining to hold some of those higher notes. Its hard to hate a happy song like this, and thus I dont, because Im not a monster, but Victorys not as great as it could have been.

68. Pokmon Black 2 and White 2 Ending and Credits

Black 2 and White 2, and we get both ending AND credits. I feel like Im really getting two for the price of one! Actually, Im probably getting a lot more than that, because E&C is variations on the same theme throughout its five minutes. Its one of those pieces thats way better when its just playing in the background then when youre actively concentrating and trying to do a write-up, because I liked it up until I had to try to analyze it. Then I kept going god, isnt it over yet? Which is completely unfair, because its a happy, upbeat ending that I can totally picture being used on the classic walk-around-the-world thing that games often do during credits.

67. Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind Credits
Nominated by: jcgamer107
Have I heard it before? Yes, because it plays everywhere in the game

So I have to admit, Id a little confused here. My first reaction was I used to like this. Why does it feel so bland? Then I looked into the matter a bit and realized this isnt the version of the song I know. Morrowinds title theme, Nerevar Rising, has a much stronger focus on drums and brass despite the opening flute melody. This rendition is much more subdued.

And as much as Morrowind is a pretty crappy game due to the mechanics being horrendous, Bethesda still crafted a magical world that I spent many, many hours in, getting beat up by cliff racers and constantly missing scribs. So I really expected that nostalgic tie. Instead, I just felt like the song was kinda washed up.
