My feelings root more from the typical atmosphere of this contest, specifically the nature of people "quitting" once their fave dies off and never moving on to another character, despite KotM's top 10s almost always being full of well known and popular characters. There are often a lot of characters I don't know, just because of the nature of the contest. Like, if you pick any 10 random Final Fantasy characters, I can probably rank them in order of preference (and will therefore always have a favorite remaining). If you pick 10 random spies/doctors/teachers, you are going to get a bunch of TV and movie characters that I've never seen, and games I may not have played. So, I always come in with at least a handful of favorites, but I tend to be a lot more apathetic past that point. --- another place and time, without a great divide, and we could be flying deadly high ...
