Likewise, the fact that "good guys with guns" aren't allowed to carry them in a lot of places where they could defend lives -- as we disastrously learned when some "gun-free zones" meant unarmed, law-abiding citizens (including people who left their gun in their car) were victimized by criminals for whom "gun-free zone" meant "nobody can stop me until the cops get here" -- are no longer able to do it.
