If you want to avoid the extra play-in game, just win the division. I don't really get the argument that teams who've failed to be better shouldn't receive any type of conflict, and should be held on the same pedestal as direct competition that was better. I mean, if you wanted to argue that the WC teams should have a best of 3 or something, I could get behind that. I know a lot of other supporters say it's more thrilling this way, but I think settling a 1-1 tie is more exciting than a single game.
