I voted for him, although my support is far from unconditional. I have nothing against black people in general, but it makes some people upset when I say that white privilege is not real in 2017. I'm better off economically than the average black person because I was born into a stable family, not because of my skin color. And the "historical racism" that broke the black family is the welfare state, not Jim Crow. If I were black and nothing else about my background changed, my SAT score would have been inflated and companies would have been far more eager to hire and promote me. Actual insititutional racism was put in place to combat imaginary institutional racism.

So when I see BLM making political demands, I see a group of people trying to pick my pocket. There are plenty of demographic groups that do better than whites on average even though they faced racism in the past. Blacks have been sold a story that the only way out is political. If black people continue to believe they can vote and march their way out of their current economic situation, they can look forward to the next 50 years looking like the last 50 years.
