Oh, boo-hoo.

I mean, it does kind of feel that way sometimes.

Robin Hood redistributing the wealth is a political statement. Batman hating guns because he lost his parents to them is a political statement. The forest people defeating the technologically advanced Empire from Star Wars is a political statement. But it works best when it's in the subtext.

You have audiences ready for cake and ice cream and producers saying, "Get ready to eat your veggies." I don't know that I care to see Hercules defeat the armies of Trumpsicus Maximus even though Trump-like buffoons have been a part of the myth and various film adaptations. Then again, those buffoonish leaders were probably originally digs at someone.

It's not bad to have films with a political message. It is bad for overt politics to be inescapable in entertainment. Sometimes it's important to face facts and deal with the harsh realities of life. Other times, it should be fair to turn off one's brain and enjoy a stupid movie for a couple of hours.
