TopicI've seen countless debates around "woke" but it is seldom defined.

I've explained it many times. People just don't accept it.

Now I'm not referring to the Ron DeSantis level of discourse where everything he doesn't like is woke. Acknowledging structural oppression and hostile bigotry towards marginalized groups of people is a positive form of wokeness.

But basically "wokeness" used as a pejorative refers to instances where people shove their social justice causes into scenarios where they aren't otherwise relevant.

Like if someone is reviewing a game where the story isn't actually important, and takes off points for something like "poor representation" or "damsel cliches"; that's an instance of "wokeness" that a hardcore gamer might complain about.

Or let's say there's a M-rated game coming from overseas. The original version has breast slide sliders and camera angles focusing on asses. But localization removes them out of consideration for "sexual objectification". Woke and annoying; we are adults, if we don't want that content we could just not buy the game, those who do want it shouldn't be deprived of the developer's original vision.

Some political examples. When Ilhan Omar accused politicians of being bought off by Israel's lobbies, the media accused her of being antisemitic, even though she was referring specifically to the nation of Israel instead of Jewish people in general. Woke. When Bernie Sanders said his progressive campaign would struggle in the south because voters there lean conservative, the media accused him of being dismissive of black voters, even though the statement applies to southern state voters on average rather than any specific race of them. Woke. There are many such cases where peoples' words are misinterpreted to contribute to someone's grievance campaign.

Any case where one thinks their being offended gives them license to censor someone else's work or make out identity neutral stances to be bigoted is negative wokeness.

Ahh, finally, a self proclaimed expert on the subject! The idea of gaining knowledge titillates me!

Could you give examples of "woke" games, please, and why they are bad, or offensive, please? You're clearly an authority, so I'd love to see more of your thoughts!
