They're being positioned there for the exact same but opposite reason Biden avoids (officially) putting any US forces within Ukraine.

I've also seen people say it's to try and rescue the hostages with some sort of super duper cool spec ops mission you seen in the movies, but that sounds incredibly implausible, unfortunately.

Israel has been a major US ally for over 70 years; Ukraine has been a US ally for like....a decade, maybe.
A nuclear-armed country is in Ukraine. There are no nuclear countries in Israel/Gaza.

Seems pretty simple to me...
