my parents are staunch neoliberals. the late 20th century economic zeitgeist served them well, so they don't want to rock the boat too much.

did not just vote biden, but actively supported him in the primaries; previously supported clinton in the 08 and 16 primaries, considering supporters of the more progressive competition to be young wide-eyed idealists, though they came around to obama when he was nominated.

lack the same cynicism about institutions, corporations, privacy, civil liberties except to the extent that it's a concern of the democratic party.

politically msnbc - socially/politically progressive on or otherwise in support of anything endorsed by it, moderate or conservative on anything else. anti-interventionist when republicans do it, interventionism apologists when democrats do it. organically, they're basically mid-1970s progressives.

instinctually understand that things are getting worse based on personal real-world observations, but don't think too critically about why, except maybe blaming republicans and bad parenting. don't think too hard about the macro, regard the situation like cyclical weather conditions.
