Bro what the f*** are you even talking about.

Look at it this way. Which would spread farther? Virus A that spreads human to human via saliva or particles via breathing but it takes a week for the symptoms to show before rendering the human incapacitated. Or Virus B where the symptoms show an hour upon getting infected and leave the person incapacitated?

The former will allow farther transmission because a person could go about his day to day and spread without even knowing it. This is what Proto is talking about.

And your comparison to the Bubonic plague falls short when rats are a transmission factor. A better comparison would be to Ebola which struggled to spread because it killed the infected way too quickly.
