Due to Japanese laws regarding acquisitions by foreign companies, I'm not sure if this will even be successful, but I'm sure they have already discussed that with their legal team.

Won't ever happen because it's literally international law that you cannot buy another country's business. Otherwise you'd have tiktok billionaires buying out developing countries.
Foreign companies are able to invest and/or buy companies from another country. For example, America's Ford owns a 32% stake in China's Jiangling Motors.
