Which, if you allow the news site to send notifications, means you get notified of the story the moment it's on the news site. By definition, that's before it even makes it to Twitter.
Who's talking about links to news stories? I'm talking about the news coming straight from Twitter. Twitter is the original source of a lot of stories you see these days.

You're gonna say something like "rumors and ragebait aren't news!" because you refuse to acknowledge that social media, especially Twitter, has been far more useful than that. I have been using Twitter for years without ever making a post. Before Musk took over, I never saw a single ragebait post show up on my feed.
