The people spreading anti-vax rhetoric don't actually care about those studies. Their standard for evidence is "it should take long enough that vaccines won't be needed by the time the studies are finished".

Yes, but this is a pretty new technology

It's new technology (and quite remarkable!) but it's not a fundamentally new thing in the way that opponents want to make it out to be. People trivially accept such innovations into their lives in other areas without being overly concerned about it because there aren't political ramifications of it.

So as long as you're accepting that the opposition to vaccines is motivated by politics, why give cover in the form of claiming it's just a matter of extra cautious adherence to the scientific method?
